Comprising two volumes, these contain a varied selection of operatic arias, movements from solo cantatas and songs and include contributions from well-known composers, such as Handel and Monteverdi, as well as those who may not previously have been encountered.
Volume I includes arias ranging from the rarely heard to the more familiar, such as ‘Lascia ch’io pianga’ and the cavatina ‘Caro mio ben’. Volume II contains many of the best-known arias from the repertoire, such as ‘Gia il sole dal Gange’, ‘Sebben, crudele’ and ‘Vittoria, vittoria’.
